Mighty Men Of Mt. Zion
Men's Ministry
M.O.M.M.Z.
History
In the year 2002 the men of Mt. Zion CME church formed a Men’s Ministry group at the behest of brother Clausell Colston and brother Dave Reid Sr. Brother Reid began calling us the “Mighty Men of Mount Zion”, and the name stuck.
It was their desire that we would not only grow strong as a benefit to the church, but as a benefit to the community and to the young men in our families. Since our inception, the Mighty Men have led the way on many projects including, purchase of a new church van, the installation of Iron fencing around the church, replacement of a skylight in the Parsonage, renovation of the pastor’s office and bedroom in the Parsonage, new fencing around the church parking lot and more.
We have gone on many weekend retreats with our young men, where we shared learning experiences with them such as: camping, various sports including archery fishing, swimming, go-karting, paintballing, basketball and more. We created a special historical experience for them call the “Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad”. A midnight trip through the woods with only lanterns to light the way. We discussed the experience with our young men. Sitting around the campfire having deep “man to Man” discussions about God, family, relationships and life. An experience that remains with them to this day.
The “Mighty Men of Mount Zion” continues to reach out to the community and the men in other churches to continue this legacy. Many of our Elders have gone on to glory but they live on in our hearts and the stories we recall. May God continue the bless the M.M.O.M.Z.
